Hazrat Allama Arshadul Qadri<\/strong> (May his soul rest at peace!), a prominent Sunni Alim (scholar), was a noted personality not only in India but abroad also for his unforgettable contributions in the field of spreading the true version of Islam, taught by the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him!) and propagated by Imam Ahmad Raza (May Allah grant peace to his soul!). He possessed an epoch-making, credible and multi-faceted personality. He was an excellent writer, a stylist literary figure, a highly qualified Munazir (debater) and a world-renowned founder of many madrasas, mosques and organizations.<\/p> \t\t\r\n \t<\/div>\r\n \t <\/div>\r\n \t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

He was born at “Syedpura”, a small village at Balia in eastern Uttar Pradesh (India) in about 1925 and came of a religious and academic family. His father, Hazrat Maulana Abdul Lateef was a product of the widely known ‘Madrasa Hanafiyah at Jaunpur, a Murid (spiritual disciple) of Shah Abdul Aleem Aasi of Ghazipur, (May his soul rest at peace!) and a true lover of Sarkar-i-Baghdad Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani. In the same way, his grandfather, Hazrat Mulana Azeemullah Shah and tow of his cousines, Hazrat Maulana Ghulam Mohiyuddin and Hazrat Maulana Mohammad Yahya Alimi were accomplished Alims of their times.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Hazrat Allama received his primary education at his house and learned the basic books form his father and grandfather (May their souls rest at peace!). Then, his elder brother, Shah Ghulam Aasi (May his soul rest at peace!), who was a great Alim adn Sufi took him to the widely famed Darul Uloom Ashrafia at Mubarakpur. Here, he enjoyed the kind patronage of Hazrat Hafiz-i-Millat Shah Abdul Aziz Moradabadi (May Allah grant peace to his soul!) who trained and nurtured him very affectionately. Hazrat Allama stayed there for eight years and benefited himself spiritually and academically from the blessed company of Hazrat Hafiz-i-Millat. Thus, he grew up to be a world-renowned scholar. He passed out from Darul Uloom Ashrafia, Mubarakpur in 1944. Since then, he engaged himself in serving the religion and the Jama’ah (community) for about half a century.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Allah, the Exalted, had gifted Raisul Qalam Hazrat Allama Arshadul Qadri with many qualities. He was a teacher, writer, far-sighted thinker and great statesman. On one side, he taught at madrasas and produced hundreds of Ulama, on the other, he gave the community valuable books on burning issues. His writings were cogent, and his style, simple and easy to understand. In his writings, he demonstrates boldness, straightforwardness and temerity.     Hazrat Allama was bestowed with organizational and managerial talents and expertise. These talents stood him in good stead and helped him even in areas, dry in resources. With his intelligent and strategic skills, he turned the desert into a blooming garden. He founded a madrasa here and a mosque there. He was always in the forefront in activities related to organizations and movements. In short, he discharged his duty in organizing and uniting the community (of Ahlus Sunnah) and earned name and fame for his organizational talents and skills. Thus, he founded many madrasas, mosques and educational, cultural and organizational centres both in India and abroad. A few of them are as follows:<\/p>

    Educational Institutes founded abroad by Hazrat Allama<\/strong>: (1) Jamia Madinatul Islam (Den Hague, Netherlands) (2) Islamic Missionary College (Bradford, Britain) (3) Darul Uloom Aleemia (Surinam, America)

    Preaching Centres founded abroad by Hazrat Allama<\/strong>: (1) World Islamic Mission: This Mission was founded at Daar-i-Arqam in Makkah Mu’azzamah. The head office of this mission is in London. (2) Da’wat-i-Islami: This is an international Tableeghi (preaching) centre which was founded in Karachi. Hazrat Maulana Ilyas Qadri was appointed as the Ameer at Darul Uloom Amjadia.

          National and International Conferences: The intellectual caliber and writing skills of Hazrat Allama were acknowledged by all. Therefore, he was invited to attend the national and international conferences. His presence stood surety of the success of a conference.                 This is a brief biographical sketch of Hazrat Allama Arshadul Qadri. It is difficult to mention all the contributions Hazrat Allama had made in the field of preaching and propagating the teachings of Islam. However, the brief description of his contributions to the cause of the Ahle Sunnah makes it clear that he was a revolutionary, far-sighted, venturesome leader who was well aware of the vicissitudes of the age. He led the community (of Ahlus Sunnah) at the tumultuous time when the horizon looked dark and dreary. There was no ray of hope. People had gone to such extremes that the future was overcast with disappointment and despair. At this crucial time, it was he who led the community to a better destination. Perhaps, Allama Iqbal had composed the following verse about people like him:

                Although the wind is strong and violent,
                The saintly person
                Whom Allah has granted royal dignity,
                Is lighting up his lamp.<\/strong>

                In short, a saintly man gave a new lease of life to and raised the intellectual standard of the community (of Ahlus Sunnah). He always tried to make us aware of his observations and experiences in Europe, America and the Islamic world. He cultivated and instilled in our hearts the love for the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him!). Sometimes he went abroad to preach the universal message of Islam, sometimes he traveled from Kashmir to Kanyakumari for the same purpose. He became the voice (spokesperson) of the Ahlus Sunnah and echoed in the country and abroad. He burnt himself like a lamp and guided others.

                SAD DEMISE<\/strong>: Alas! This sun set on 29th April, 2002. (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Elaihi Raaji'oon) But he has left behind indelible footprints for us. Extraordinary achievements make a place in the pages of history for themselves. One is compelled to praise them. They are like the musk which diffuse fragrance everywhere and benefits all. Today, Hazrat Allama is no more with us but the fragrance of his memory emanates from each of his memorable deeds. May Allah, the Exalted, give us a good substitute for him!
