The Educational Departments of Jamia Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia
Jamia Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia is a well organized movement. It has a comprehensive plan comprising certains educational, cultural and training programmes. At present, this Jamia consists of two colleges.
- Kulliyatul Qur’an
- Kulliyatul Adab wal Da’wah
The Kulliyatul Qur’an consists of three departments.
- The Department of Hifz: This department was formed for the local students in particular and for the outer (external) students in general. At present, more than twenty students are studying in this department. The oral test for admission to this department is held in the second week of the month of Shawwal.
- The Department of Tajweed and Qira’at: In this department, the students are drilled in the science of Tajweed (intonation and phonetics) of the Holy Qur’an. They are also taught the etiquettes and principles of reciting the Holy Qur’an so that they may recite it in the same tone as it has been ordered to be recited.
- The Department of Nazira: This department has been formed specially for the children of the locality so that the old proverb “Chiragh tale andhera” (Darkness prevails at the lamp’s base.) should not be repeated and people may get benefited more and more from this Jamia. Special attention is paid to teach the students how to recite the Holy Qur’an with correct Makharij (outlets for sounds of letters) and pronunciation.
Kulliyatul Adab wal Da’wah
This residential training centre, equivalent to the college standard, has been formed for the Farigheen Ulama (products) of the madrasas. They get admission to this Kulliyah after a written test and an interview. Preference is given to the intelligent and meritorious students.
This Kulliyah has an excellent and comprehensive syllabus which consists of Islamic studies and Arabic and English literatures. Special arrangements have been made to teach the students how to read, write and speak in Arabic and English. They are also imparted education in classical and modern branches of knowledge as well modern education. In addition to this, they are trained theoretically and practically and academically through cultural and co-curricular activities so that they may become conscious of discharging their duties and developing creative skills.
Other Departments
There is a Darul Ifta in this Jamia to find out solution to the problems and issues related to the Muslims. Answeres to queries related to religious issues are provided in the light of the Holy Qur’an and Hadith (Traditions of the Holy Prophet). The Darul Ifta has a separate library which has a good stack of books on Fiqh and Fataawa (Islamic Jurisprudence and legal opinions.
This is the main library in the Jamia. Since the Jamia has no separated building, it is in the building of the Jamia. There are thousands of books on Islamic Studies and Literatures. This library is always open for the students and the research scholars.
This department publishes and prints posters, hand bills, annual calendars, and booklets containing information about religious teachings. It also publishes and prints introductory booklets of the Jamia. This year, the managing committee of the Jamia has decided to bring out a quarterly magazine in Arabic and an annual magazine in Urdu. The preparations in this regard are in full swing. Allah willing, this two magazines will be brought out very soon.
This department was already in the project of the founder, Hazrat Allama Arshadul Qadri. But due to the lack of resources and non-availability of the services of qualified persons, no progress could be made so far. This year the managing committee has decided to make this department more effective. We have succeeded in getting the services of qualified scholars. As soon as we get the necessary resources, we will start this project.
Under this department, literatures will be prepared in Arabic, Urdu and English, keeping in view the contemporary discourse. The teachers in the Jamia are carrying out their research works which will be published by this department. According to our syllabus, the students write research articles. The best of these articles will also be published.
